Clutch hub nut
Hello,
I have some problems with the new clutch i bought.
I bought a new competitor clutch and the threat on the new nut for the main shaft seems damaged. On the old nut the threat is “V” shaped and fits perfect, on the new nut the threat seems flat and wont fit the shaft. The problem is that the old nut doesn’t fit in the center of the new clutch.
I tried to get a new nut from my supplier but he cant order just the nut because it is only sold as a set (in the Netherlands).
Does anybody know the threat size so i can get a tap to try to repair the threat.
Thank you in advance
Theo

Re: Clutch hub nut
With that aftermarket clutch the original nut won't work... Needs a 1986 and newer nut, OK?
The shaft has a left hand thread. So what size, pitch and diameter, is what the man wants to know....

Re: Clutch hub nut
Here's a nut on eBay....
https://www.ebay.com/itm/175642303270?v ... 4146495e87
Eastern Parts Clutch Hub Nut 1984-1989 Big Twin Harley DS-193157, H-D # 37496-84
perhaps you can find a nut locally....
I have to use one with my Barnett Scorpion clutch, and a Rivera Primo Pro Clutch. It is OE from late 84 onward, and most AM clutches use it too.....

Re: Clutch hub nut
Thank you for your reply.
I don’t think the nut you suggested will fit, the gap in the clutch where the nut goes in to is quite deep. The nut you suggested looks shorter.
The problem with the old nut is the hexagon shape at the bottom end wont fit in the gap.
Also the old nut is longer and the seal is placed at the end, the new nut has the seal deeper in the nut.
