1953 FL444 viewsIt had disc brakes on both ends, and stopping was a good thing. But the direction I wanted was Star-Hubs & drum brakes. I have bought all the Star-Hubs I could over time, and have 2 Chrome hubs. Since this is a (still) a Parts Bike, this felt like a good home for them. One was laced to a 19, so I am getting new spokes & lacing it to a 16. These will be fitted with Shinko 5.00x16 Super Classic Blackwall Tires. Treadwise, they look just like the Cokers on my 65. A Goodyear tread pattern, full sidewall height.drinner-okcMar 07, 2010

1953 FL395 viewsWhile the engine is out (& the money holds out) I will get the frame straightened out. It had not been raked, but the neck lock cut-out, and the dash mount was replaced but too low. There was no lower tank mount there at all. It had broke a lot of tanks, I got 5 sets (repop) with the bike, all leakers. All pieces were tracked down & ordered.drinner-okcMar 07, 2010

1953 FL383 viewsSept 2009, I lost a wrist pin keeper in the rear cylinder and ruined the jug. I was tempted to just replace the cylinder & ride, but everyone said that was a sign of worse problems. A full teardown revealed mis-matched flywheels, rods someone had shaved the sides (alot) and bad previous repairs to the cases. What followed was a lot of welding & millingdrinner-okcMar 07, 2010

1953 FL426 viewsThis is how it arrived at my house in June 2007. I called it Johnny Cash because of all the different year parts used. After I made it safer & more dependable it was a blast. Then it broke.drinner-okcMar 07, 2010
