01/05/13 at 01:16You will notice one difference in uniform here, which was standard brown serge, Strathcona boots and breeches, was the lack of spurs. These were removed for motorcycle duty. Also the gauntlets here actually had a protective insert in them, which was different from the equestrian gauntlets used by the Musical Ride. This member would have been used for protective escort duty (Royal or VIP motorcade) or Federal Parkway duty as the RCMP in Ontario worked strictly Federal Duties. The Ontario Provincial Police and Municipal Police Departments handled policing for the province.
