Someone who knows someone..

#1

Post by Electricmayhem »

Looking for parts to start my next bobber build. To start with I'm looking for a 48-57 Frame...secondly I'm looking for a Panhead block (matching numbers+legit SN). I could of course buy a AM Panhead and a AM frame..but first I'd like to atleast try to get hold of an org. block/frame. (...or complete engine if possible).
Finding these parts over here in Sweden are becoming more or less impossible.

So...is there someone on this forum that knows someone that first of all could sit on these parts and secondly perhaps would be interested in selling? Any tips are much appreciated. Reach out through PM or in this thread...and yes I'm keeping an eye on Ebay...

Peace!

For you guys that were around pans and knuckles here in the US in the mid to late '80's: There were many crews from both Germany and Switzerland that went across the US and bought any pan or knuckle that they could find, no matter what condition they were in (Parts, whole bikes, etc)

So the OP might want to try his own countrymen...........

JUNGLE JIM was in LYNWOOD CALI. Back in the 70’s and mid 80’s. He was located just down the street from KNUCKLEWORKS.HE had a huge warehouse full of pre 70’s big twin parts. Did not advertise nor did he have a sign outside the business location. You had to know it was there . A man from Germany bought the whole lot and shipped it all to Germany. That was the end of Jungle Jims my best go to source for parts

In the mid 80's, the Cherokee run in NC used to have a guy that had a bunch of pan and knuck motors: Some were seized, some missing parts, it didnt matter. He would display and sell about 30-40 of them at a time, quite a sight. I go next year to buy one, all are gone to some dudes in Ge

Same group tried to buy a huge surplus of WLA parts in Western NC. Tractor trailer loads. Those guys showed up and he ran them off.

There was another team outta Switzerland that hit most of the SE US as well

They were smart: When the EVO first came out, there were loads of pans and knucks just asking to be bought
