Re: motor sprocket
If I go to a 16 tooth on the tranny with my 30 on the motor would that be close to what I am trying get with 28 on motor with the 17 on tranny?

Re: motor sprocket
I've never seen a 16 for the 1941-* box or a 28 engine sprocket
27 is easy to find, ex- WLA sidecar
Clutch 59, 37 on the axle

Re: motor sprocket
I come up with overall ratios of 4.55 vs 4.60, pretty close to being equal..
What did y'all come up with?

Re: motor sprocket
There are people who list a 28 tooth but out of stock. Makes one wonder why!! On the phone the other day with a guy who tells me a 16 tooth tranny sprocket was available at one time. Will try to see if he has one. Hey RooDog are you saying it will be the same ratio as going the other route?

Re: motor sprocket
Do the math. I only see .05 difference in the ratios between the two pairs of sprockets, but I could have made an error as I did not go back and check my work. Please double check my figuring....JUGPAM11 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 21, 2022 9:03 pm There are people who list a 28 tooth but out of stock. Makes one wonder why!! Re: motor sprocket
H-D made sprockets for 45s in every tooth count from 17-34 on the engine. However most were used for racers only so all the odd tooth counts are rare. And they made 15T and 16T transmissions sprockets, but again even more rare as only ever used for racers.

Re: motor sprocket
OK, I read some place that 1 tooth on trans is equal to 3 on motor. Can not find where I read that. Any of you see something like that? Don't know if he was talking about a servi trans. If that would be true it sounds to me that trans sprocket will be the way to go. Anyone want to add to that? Is there an advantage one way or the other?

Re: motor sprocket
What you will run into is the non existence of the 16 tooth tranny sprocket. 17 tooth are available by the gross.
