Linkert M74 Price?
A fellow has a M74 that I'm looking at buying. It's all there. Manifold included. Looks to be in fair shape. Clean. Everything moves with no binding. I didn't check it out as much as I should. The guy is about halfway in a 120 mile route I take. He is asking $340.00 for it. Is that a fair price? Thanks.

There are several variations of M74 and M74 B. What are you trying to do? Finish a correct restoration? Just put a brass Linkert on a bike it was removed from? More information is needed. And without pictures there is no way to try and judge value.1964 pan wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 2:53 am A fellow has a M74 that I'm looking at buying. It's all there. Manifold included. Worn shafts? Worn body with deep eyebrows?, factory finish or polished chopper stuff?
The possibilities are endless.

If I was searching for a m74(b) and I could get one for ±€300 and it's pretty much complete but needs revision I would take it and work with it.

Re: Linkert M74 Price?
Well. As I said I didn't check it out as much as I should because it was a cold call and I was not thinking about it at the time. The fellow had a lot of stuff. Later I thought it would be a spare for my 1964. As we all know those old carbs don't grow on trees. It was old stock. At glance it looked fair. Next time I am over that way I can go over it with a fine tooth comb. Thanks for the advice.

There are 4 variations, and you would need the latest one for a correct '64 carb. Luckily it tends to be the most common of them. Here is a picture previously posted here showing the M74 and 4 versions of M74B. The small inset shows the variation in the "B" itself, the side views show the differences in the castings.
